Peg and Jim Hassett  > Travel > Two Harbors
To celebrate our wedding anniversary, we stayed a night at the Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast in Two Harbors, Minnesota. The North Shore of Lake Superior is one of our favorite places, and staying in a functioning lighthouse made it extra fun. Since late November is not the height of the tourist season, we had the whole lighthouse to ourselves!

Peg and Jim Hassett > The lighthouse stands on a peninsula at the south end of the town of Two Harbors. It's operated as a bed and breakfast by the Lake County Historical Society, but the keeper/cook/housekeeper doesn't stay on the grounds, so we were the only people there through the night.

Peg and Jim Hassett > Another view of the dining room. In the corner (with a plant on top) is an antique wind-up phonograph that we used to play a few of the old 78 rpm records stored in its cabinet.
Peg and Jim Hassett > The sitting room. The tripod by the window holds an old telescope that can be used to look at boats on the lake.
Peg and Jim Hassett > Upstairs there are three bedrooms. We used this one, but since we were the only guests, we were free to visit the other rooms as well.

Peg and Jim Hassett > The tower has a porthole-style window on each side. This is the view to the south, showing Lake Superior.
Peg and Jim Hassett > Originally, an oil lantern with Fresnel lenses was used, but these days the lights in the tower are electric.
